Cities That Allow Marijuana Cultivation

As most are aware, recreational marijuana use and possession became legal in the state of California on January 1st 2018. The Santa Ana City Council approved an ordinance which allows cannabis cultivation, manufacturing and distribution activities. There are only a select few Southern California jurisdictions that are allowed to have full commercial cannabis vertical integration. Santa Ana is now one of them. This approval happened on April 17, 2018. This Integration includes retail and testing labs as well. California Health and Safety Code 11358 HS (marijuana cultivation)

This Health and Safety code was amended by Proposition 64. This now allows people ages 21 and over to legally cultivate up to six marijuana plants. This must be an indoor grow process unless local regulation permits outdoor growth. (such as those in effect in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles county). The person growing the marijuana plants must have them in a secure location and there may not be any access for a minor. Several key factors that you may want to be aware of. Those under the age of 21 that are caught growing any amount of marijuana are guilty of an infraction. There are fines that will be assessed as well as drug counseling programs that one may have to attend.  Any adult caught cultivating over six plants will be charged with the crime.
